BEARLY THERE
PURPOSE
Game Jam
DESCRIPTION
Fulfill your lifelong dream of becoming a gummy bear and escape Arts & Crafts Island before you completely deflate! Fill yourself up with honey before leaving, but beware, doing so makes you bigger and slower, and makes the bees on the island more aggressive.
Bearly There was created for Poly Games' 13th Creative Jam. The game jam's theme was evasion and its technical challenge was adaptive difficulty. My team and I were able to successfully complete our game within 48 hours.

MY CONTRIBUTIONS
-
Movement, camera controls, double jump, and roll
-
Rolling increases speed but knocking into an object will temporarily stun the player
-
Honey acts as the player’s health and the game ends if honey reaches zero
-
The player’s honey gradually decreases over time at a rate based off how many holes they’ve accumulated
-
Player starts with one hole, but getting stung by bees or stepping on a trap adds holes up to a maximum of five
-
The player can collect tape to reduce the number of holes
-
The bear increases in size based on how much honey he’s carrying
-
Carrying more honey makes him run slower and stops him from passing through certain shortcuts
-
If the player wins if they reach the docks on the far side of the map without running out of honey
